If you need to know anything about Candice and Reid, it’s this: {Candice} Looking back, I realize one thing: this is proof that you can get lost and still end up exactly where you belong.
Yep, that’s pretty much all we needed to hear to fall in love with these high school sweethearts!
The couple dated in high school and enjoyed a whirlwind romance but their paths led them in different directions- college at ASU for Candice and Army Boot Camp in Georgia for Reid (which eventually led him to Germany). Candice recalls: It was incredibly painful, but we knew in order to grow fully as individuals we would have to spend time on our own paths. He needed to pursue the career he imagined for himself and I needed to pursue my education as fully as possible. Although we weren’t together officially, we always stayed close friends, and in the back of our minds we were hoping that we could catch a break one day and have the means to give our relationship the chance it deserved.
Eventually, they confessed that they still had feelings for each other and committed to their relationship. They currently live in Japan, where they got engaged, and plan to get married in a private ceremony on the beach among elephants which is just perfect for this couple who loves spontaneity and doing things just a little differently than everyone else.
They headed to Sedona with their friend and photographer Thomas Ingersoll for their engagement photos; we love the ease with which Candice and Reid interact, as if a camera wasn’t on them at all. Enjoy the red rocks, green trees, and of course, the LOVE!
Favorite things about each other:
Candice: My favorite thing about Reid is his gift of being considerate. He has an amazing ability to plan ahead and create amazing memories. He has had my birthday surprise planned for over 3 months, and I don’t have the slightest idea what it is, but based on the past I know it will be another one of the best days of my life.
Reid: My favorite thing about Candice is her way of pushing me to be a better person in so many ways, whether its in my career, education, or just my personality. She’s also incredibly intelligent, and I really admire that in her.
3 words to describe your relationship: Candice: exciting, passionate, and bright. Reid: spontaneous, goofy, and loving.
Ideal date night: Our ideal date nights are spontaneous ones; in fact last weekend we had a date where we wined-and-dined at a wine & fondue bar near the ocean, and then randomly decided to ride roller coasters and watch a street magic show after. It’s the complete randomness and openness that keeps us going and feeling like things are always young and fun.
Congratulations Candice and Reid- we know you will continue to have fun and cherish each other no matter what path your life takes!
