Lindsey and Shelley’s Pinetop engagement session is timely for so many reasons- there’s a touch of the patriotic just in time for the 4th of July, the session was shot in Pinetop which is a much cooler Arizona location (and we need to be reminded that it won’t always be 110 degrees in Phoenix), and with the recent news in California regarding same sex marriages, we want to celebrate the triumph of love!
The couple met at a concert in Palm Springs and regardless of Shelley being from Mesa and Lindsey being from Chicago, from the moment they met, they were inseparable. Lindsey explains the rest: We knew we lived thousands of miles apart, but when it came time for us to go home we just knew we’d see each other again…and soon! That started a 7 month long-distance relationship where we literally saw each other every two and a half weeks. Lets just say we racked up a lot of sky miles before I finally made the move to AZ in October 2012!
Since their ideal date night includes staying in, watching movies, drinking wine, and playing games, it’s fitting that their engagement session involved several games- I love Lindsey’s reaction after sinking the bag in the hole!
Favorite things:
Shelley: I absolutely love what a big heart Lindsey has, always willing to help anyone and see the best in any situation. She’s extremely smart and the most beautiful person I’ve ever met , inside and out.
Lindsey: I LOVE Shelley’s sense of humor – she always knows how to have a good time and she keeps me feeling young at heart. I love that I can always be myself around her!
3 words to describe their relationship: Passionate, goofy, and outgoing
The Proposal: After an elaborate and very tricky plan, Shelley surprised Lindsey in Chicago (with their dogs in on the surprise too). Lindsey recalls, ” I looked at Lucy’s tag (the greyhound) and it was a little heart shaped tag that said “marry” and our other dog’s tag (her name is Dinah – we named her after the place we met) said “me”. Then Shelley got down on one knee and said “will you change my life forever and be my wife?” I shook my head up and down furiously and said yes, of course.”
Wedding plans: We’re getting married on October 12th at the Lost Dutchman State Park. However, since marriage isn’t technically legal for us in Arizona we are going to get legally hitched in Maine on September 20th. UPDATE:Due to recent events in California, Lindsey and Shelley are getting married July11 in California instead! Love prevails!
Of course there were s’mores to finish off the night… what fun!
